Anna and William

Last weekend, I photographed a gorgeous wedding in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  My old college friend, Anna, was married on her family farm.  It was so much fun to photograph despite the gray skies and light rain. The ceremony, reception and location was so beautiful, it more than made up for the wet weather.  The reception was in a barn built in the late 1800s.  Congratulations William and Anna!

Video of the Week: Lost in the Woods

Filmmaker Ruth Hogben collaborates with award-winning musician Kanye West to create a film for his single Lost in the World. The song, which features Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, is taken from West's fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Hogben's piece breaks the mould of popular rap aesthetics while still celebrating the extraordinary talent that has made West a modern icon.

Storms and Sunsets

Here are some pretty shot during my trip to Rodanthe, North Carolina. We had a great view of the ocean and sound.  One night, a slow storm came from the sound.  I was able to get some great long-exposed shots of the lightning.  Sunsets were always gorgeous every night there as well.  The bottom photo illustrated some of that.

Gig: Christian Science Monitor

I also had a gig with the Christian Science Monitor right before the Tracy Silverman gig.  It's been published and you can read the article here.  It's a great piece on religion and politics.  They are also other articles of others from different faiths.  Being in Tennessee, I photographed a surprisingly photogenic, Southern Baptist ... Brian Weldy.

Brian was really great to meet me at his church of 15 years in Franklin, TN to take a few quick picks.

They used this one ^

Gig: Tracey Silverman and Terry Riley

As you can see from the previous post. I made a promotional video for Tracey Silverman and Terry Riley. For print promotions, they used some my photos and video stills. Here are a few:

Currently, I am editing a new video for Tracy.  A "behind the scenes" look of his rehearsals, Q&A and world premiere of PCR.  As you can see from the dates of performances, Tracy performed masterfully at Nashville, Carmel and Carnegie Hall.  Congrats and many thanks to Tracy and his manager, Mitchell Korn.  It was amazing to work with them and meeting a legend in the music world, Terry Riley.  Truly an honor.

New Gig: The Palmian Chord Ryddle

Here's a great gig that landed in my lap.  I had the opportunity to photograph and film promo of the concerto of The Palmian Chord Ryddle by influencial, innovative composer Terry Riley.  Performed by accomplished electric violinist Tracy Silverman.  It was my honor to work with these guys.  Tracy and his manager Mitchell Korn drove me up to Indianapolis to meet Terry and shoot the promo photos and video there at the performing art center.

Here's the video (first draft):

Again, many thanks to Mitchell, Tracy and Terry.

Update:  The video above has been re-edited with a few tweaks to the text.

Gig: Local Table

Duck Breast on Sweet Potato Ash

Nashville magazine Local Table gave me a really cool assignment to photograph Table 3, a semi-new restaurant in the Green Hills area.  All the food, by Chef Will Uhlhorn, are from local farmers in the Middle Tennessee and Central Kentucky Region.  Pick up a copy of Local Table in Nashville.

More Yoga

I photographed my friend Sarah again.  She wanted stuff for her business cards.  I volunteered to design them; since it's featuring my photos.  Designing these were very invigorating! I haven't really dived into post production photo process as much recently.   Most of my work have been in journalism recently.  I tend not to add colors, text or use many filters and other tools not allowed in the journalism world.  It was a lot of fun.  I still want to play with it more.  Here are some examples.

Instagram!

A few months ago, I bought the new iPhone 4s.  I bought the app Instragram.  It's an app that turns your images into a lo-fi medium format camera by using post filters.  I kinda thought this was a kitchy thing to do, but that was before owning an iPhone.  Now it's my favorite app.  What makes it stand out beyond other is the connection with photo friends who uses the app.  Here are some the images that i have taken since downloading the app.
